Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh.

En arrivant a Phnom Penh, j'avais un peu le sentiment de recommencer quelque chose a zero...
Heureusement, ma cousine Aude m'a mis en contact avec Kompheak, un de ses amis Cambodgiens. Il m'a tres gentillement accueilli chez lui pendant pres d'une semaine. Il n'a pas hesite a m'inclure dans toute ses sorties, j'ai rencontre ces amis Francais et Khmers, j'ai dine dans des restaurants locaux bien typiques. Mon sejour au Cambodge ne pouvait debuter mieux que ca.
Le Cambodge a un passe recent tres douloureux, les visites de S-21 et des charniers sont difficilement supportables, et c'etait la seule chose que je connaissais de ce pays. C'etait donc bien d'avoir ete immerge tout de suite pour avoir une image differente de ce pays.

I strangely felt like I had to start something from scratch again when I arrived in Phnom Penh.
Fortunately, my cousin who volunteered in Cambodia for 6 moths introduced me to Kompheak, one of her Cambodian friend. He was incredible hospitable and let me stay with me for nearly a week, inviting me every night with him, introducing me to his Khmers and French friends, taking me to some very typical Khmer restaurants. It was a great start!
The only thing I knew about Cambodia was its dark past with the Khmers Rouge. The visit of S-21 and the killing fields is hardly bearable. This is why it was nice to meet Khmers from the start to have a better image of Cambodia.
